Reporting & Investigation

Faculty, staff and students may contact the BIT at any time to report observations of concerning behavior that appear to be a harm to self or others.  The following procedures detail the steps to report concerning behavior, what follow up will occur, and how cases will be monitored/closed over time (see the flow chart below as well as a brief description).

Step 1: Complete the online referral form to report a concerning behavior (Choose student behavior form): https://www.cptc.edu/about/policies/conduct/better-cptc

Step 2: A member of the BIT will review the referral form, assess the threat, and connect with the reporter and appropriate parties to investigate.

Step 3: If needed, the BIT will develop an action/safety plan.  Ongoing progress will be regularly monitored to ensure compliance with the action/safety plan. As appropriate the action/safety plan will be shared with appropriate parties.

Step 4: Services will be documented and (actions) communicated to appropriate parties.

Step 5: The BIT will determine which cases can be closed.
