About Us - CPTC BIT
Report a Concern

Mission

The mission of CPTC’s Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) team is to address campus safety and student support by assessing threats and providing timely interventions to protect the welfare of students and the overall college community.

Purpose

The CPTC BIT team contributes to campus safety and community through assessing, addressing, and creating action plans when receiving reports of concerning behavior. An interdisciplinary campus team works to connect individuals to resources and compassionate care. The BIT team can provide a bridge between where a person is, and where they aspire to be on their educational path.

Scope of Work

The BIT tracks, assesses, and intervenes with students exhibiting behavior that demonstrates harm, or the potential of harm to self or others. Specifically, BIT functionally serves the campus community in the following ways:

  • Educate the campus community about behaviors of concern and how to report those behaviors
  • Consult with members of the campus community, and provide supportive interventions to assist with concerning behaviors
  • Developing plan of care for student and campus to address concerning behavior
  • Serve as a central point of contact for concerning student behavior
  • Assess threat/risk of aberrant student behavior
  • Assess resources and coordinate follow up intervention management
  • Track data and assess trends/behaviors

Each BIT member must understand his/her scope of work within the context of team's responsibilities. Typically, a member's scope of work mirrors the normal job function. BIT makes recommendations, but does not dictate the actions of individual departments.
