Enroll in Classes

Enrollment means registering for classes. Find your registration dates, learn how to enroll in classes, and get help with common registration questions.

When can I register?

Your registration time is determined by your approved student status. Students receive an enrollment appointment, which is the earliest date and time they can register for classes. You can find your enrollment appointment in ctcLink. From the purple column on the left side of the page, select:

Enrollment → Enrollment Dates

Priority Registration
Your registration time is determined by your approved student category:
  • 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Eligible veterans, National Guard members, active-duty members, and their spouses, domestic partners, and dependents using VA education benefits (VA priority registration requirements).
  • Beginning at 1 p.m.: Approved Running Start, Technical High School, Adult High School, and international students.
Continuing Students
Students who have taken a class within the last year (four quarters).
Open Registration

Get Ready to Register

  1. Find the Classes You Need

Your Program Map lists the courses you need to take.

Don't have your personalized program map? New students meet with an Entry Coordinator. Continuing students meet with your Advisor.

  2. Add Classes to Your Shopping Cart

You can add classes to your shopping cart about two weeks before registration begins. Adding a class to your shopping cart does not guarantee a seat in the class.

  3. Validate Your Classes

Before classes begin, you can validate your shopping cart to check whether you meet the prerequisites for the classes you plan to take.

    [TBD: link to validation instructions]

Waitlists & Class Swaps

Joining a waitlist

  • If a class is full and a waitlist is available, you may add yourself to the waitlist.
  • If space becomes available and you meet the enrollment requirements, you may be automatically enrolled in the class. Students are notified through ctcLink and their preferred email address when they are enrolled from a waitlist.
How do I join a waitlist?

[TBD: instructions, screenshots, or a PDF on joining a waitlist]

How do I check my waitlist position?

Log in to ctcLink and select:

Enrollment → View Waitlist

What could prevent me from joining a waitlist?

[TBD: reasons other than the waitlist being full. The doc asks whether to include this item at all.]

Already enrolled and found a section you like better, but the class is full? Use Swap.

When you set up a swap, you stay enrolled in your backup class while you wait. If a seat opens in your preferred class, ctcLink enrolls you in it and drops you from the backup class. If a seat does not open, you stay enrolled in the backup class.

[TBD: link to swap PDF instructions]
