Undocumented Students in Washington State
Thanks to efforts of state government, non-profits, and institutions of higher education, undocumented students have a pathway to education in the state of Washington. House Bill 1079 lays out the requirements for undocumented students to receive resident tuition rates if they meet all of the following criteria:
1. "Received a diploma from a Washington high school or the equivalent of a diploma in Washington State" and
2. "Have lived in Washington for at least three [calendar years (not school years)] prior to receiving their diploma or its equivalent" and
3. Have continuously resided in Washington since receiving the high school diploma or its equivalent.
Undocumented students may also have access to state financial aid. Take a look at the Financial Aid for Washington State Residents page for the latest information on how to qualify and apply.
