CPTC students who are enrolled in for-credit courses have a college-issued Office 365 account and Outlook email address, where you will receive important College correspondence and have access to online Microsoft apps like Calendar, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and OneDrive. Your CPTC email login and password are also your login and password for the student Wi-Fi network, student computers on campus, and Canvas.
Please check your CPTC email regularly! Using your student email will help you communicate with faculty and other students and keep up-to-date on important information and events.

Step 2: Change your password
Change your password right away, to prevent misuse of your account. You must change your password every 120 days.
- Go to your CPTC email inbox.
- Click on your username/initials in the top right-hand corner.
- Click "View Account."
- Look for the Password tile and click "Change Password."
- Enter your current and new passwords. Your new password must be at least 10 characters, with small letters, capital letters, and at least one number or special character.
- Click "Submit."
You can reset your password using the above steps at any time, wherever you have access to the internet. If you forget your password, you may reset your password by following the Password Recovery process at https://passwordreset.microsoftonline.com/.

Your students.cptc.edu email address is a free required account for all students.
Student email is one of the important ways the college sends students up-to-date college information about campus closures, deadlines, scholarship opportunities and upcoming events. Please check your student email on a regular basis!
Your student email is managed through Microsoft Office 365 at https://outlook.office.com/, and is created automatically within three business days of your application acceptance.
Your email username is based on your last name and student ID, and your default password is based on your birthdate. Scroll up this page to the boxes for specific information on your username and default password!
- Access your CPTC Student Email using a web browser at https://outlook.office.com/. You can also find this link where it says Email at the top right-hand corner of the CPTC website.
- Access your CPTC Student Email using the Microsoft Outlook app for your computer. Visit https://office.com, select the Install Office button and follow the instructions to download Outlook.
- Access your CPTC Student Email using the Microsoft Outlook app for your phone by downloading the app from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/outlook-mobile-for-android-and-ios.
- Please visit Microsoft's Outlook download page and follow instructions on how to configure your smartphone to access your CPTC student email account.
We recommend changing your password as soon as possible — and you should use a secure password that uses both numbers and letters. Here's how to change your password:

CPTC student email may not be forwarded to another account. Email is an important way that the College delivers important information to all students. Check your student email on a regular basis so that you don’t miss these updates!
Students have free access to computers located in the Learning Resource Center and the Computer Lab in Building 15.

If you're trying to sign in to Office with your personal Microsoft account, but you're already signed in with your work or school account, you need to sign out and then sign in with the correct Microsoft account (or vice versa).
Another option is to open a private browsing session in a new browser window. (Search your browser's help if you don't know how to do this.) When you open a private browsing session your browsing data (history, temporary internet files, and cookies) isn't saved so you can sign in with a different account.
Your student email account will remain active for 365 days after the completion of your very last day of class at CPTC.
