Student Wi-Fi

We recently updated our campus Wi-Fi network with newer, faster equipment. Below are instructions for accessing the new network.

Student Wi-Fi Account Activation

In an effort to get new students wireless access as quick as possible, they have been issued a unique password within 24 hours of registration. What this means to our students is that they don't need to go to the library lab and wait in a long line to establish a wi-fi account.

Username format

  • last name (in lowercase letters) as recorded in the Registrar's office PLUS
  • last four digits of CPTC Student ID number (not social security number)
  • example: Last Name: garcia + student ID 975861234garcia1234

Password Support

Default Format

  • cptc + ddMmmyyyy (birthdate with letters all lowercase, except for the first letter of the 3 character month
    • example: a student born on June 8, 1999 = cptc08Jun1999
  • Change your password immediately to prevent misuse of your account.

If you have forgotten your password, you can do any of the following to reset it:

  1. Visit the Microsoft Password Reset page at to reset it.
  2. Use a password reset kiosk located in Building 23 (ASG), the Library Computer Lab in Building 15 Room 104, or South Hill Campus lobby.
  3. For additional assistance, call the Library Computer Lab at 253-589-5820.
