Welcome to the Testing Center at Clover Park Technical College. We are excited to be a part of your journey for success. Testing can sometimes be stressful so we offer a welcoming and calm environment to test. The Testing Center proctors a variety of tests and certifications for CPTC students and community members. We are located on the Lakewood Campus in Building 17, Room 250. Please note that all certifications and exams are by appointment only.
- For all tests, government issued photo identification is required. No exceptions will be made.
- Testers are prohibited from bringing in any personal belongings (cell phones, bags, watches, wallets, electronic devices, keys, coats, hats, food, beverages, etc.) into the testing area. Lockers are provided for testers during check-in.
- Please do not bring children with you during testing. Children cannot be left unattended on the college campus.
- Please plan to arrive with sufficient time to complete COVID-19 training and check-in before the Testing Center closes.
Accuplacer
The Accuplacer assessment is an advising tool created to reveal your strengths while also identifying obstacles in academic areas before they can slow your progress towards your educational goals. You can now take the Accuplacer online:
General Education Development (GED)
- We are a Pearson VUE authorized testing center, and we provide GED testing for those who wish to earn their GED certificate.
- The GED exam consists of 4 tests: Reasoning through Language Arts (150 min), Social Studies (70 min), Mathematics (115 min), and Science (90 minutes).
- Each test costs $30 with a total of $120 for all four tests.
- Appointments are scheduled directly through the GED company either online (www.ged.com) or by phone (1-877-392-6433).
- At the time of testing, testers must provide current government-issue photo identification with their name, address, birth date and signature on it. (If your photo identification does not indicate that you have been in Washington for longer than 30 days, then you will need to bring additional documentation showing proof of residency). Expired or invalid identification will not be accepted

Approval to Test Form
If you are under the age of 19 and have not yet graduated from high school, you will need to submit a “Request for Approval to Test” form. Contact your high school or school district office to complete this form, and drop off the signed form to any GED Testing Center for approval. You will not be able to complete your test registration until this form has been recorded by the Testing Center.
Nursing Pre-Admission (PAX)
The PAX Admission test administered through the National League for Nursing (NLN) is designated for students applying to CPTC’s Practical Nursing program.

Testers must provide their ASE eligibility ID number in order to schedule an appointment.
Dental Assisting National Board (DANB)
We are partnering again, with Pearson Vue to provide our Dental Assistant program with certification examinations. Students can take their Infection Control Exam (ICE), Radiation Health & Safety (RHS), and General Chairside Assisting (GC) exams in the Testing Center.
Disability Accommodations
Students who are interested in requesting accommodations for the Accuplacer must contact the Disability Services Manager at 253-589-5767 prior to testing. Documentation will be required.
Ability to Benefit
If you’re interested in receiving Ability to Benefit financial aid, complete the FAFSA or WAFSA and schedule an appointment to meet with an advisor. For more information about Ability to Benefit, contact Student Aid & Scholarships at 253-589-5660.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required when students are applying for federal or state aid. Ability to Benefit is another way students can be eligible for aid if they do not have a high school diploma or equivalent.
