Policy

Students who meet admission requirements are admitted to CPTC on a first come, first served basis. An admitted student will have met the College admission requirements. Specific program prerequisites will be met by the date of enrollment. 

Eligibility for Admission

(1)   In accordance with WAC 131-12-010, any applicant for admission to Clover Park Technical College shall be admitted when, as determined by the Chief Student Affairs Officer or his/her designee, such applicant:

  • (a)  Is competent to profit from the curricular offerings of the college; and
  • (b)  Would not, by his or her presence or conduct, create a disruptive atmosphere within the community or technical college inconsistent with the purposes of the institution; and
  • (c)  Is eighteen years of age or older; or
  • (d)  Is a high school graduate; or
  • (e)  Has applied for admission under the provisions of a student enrollment options program such as running start or a successor program; or other local student enrollment options program.

(2)  However, an applicant transferring from another institution of higher education who meets the above criteria, but who is not in good standing at the time of his transfer may be conditionally admitted to a community or technical college on a probationary status as determined by the Chief Student Affairs Officer of the community or technical college district or his or her designee.

Should an applicant be denied admission, the applicant has the right to appeal the decision.

Procedure

Prospective students may apply for admission to CPTC online or using the paper form available from the Enrollment Services Office, the Advising & Counseling Office, or the Outreach & Entry Services Office.

High School seniors interested in starting college after graduation may apply for admission to Clover Park Technical College at any time during their senior year.

High School students interested in Running Start may apply for admission as early as 16 years of age. Interested students must contact the Running Start Counselor in the CPTC Advising & Counseling office or an Entry Specialist in the Welcome Center.

The Director of Enrollment Services and/or Dean of Student Success may deny admission or re-entry to a prospective or returning student as outlined in WAC 131-12-010. That student may appeal the decision to the Vice President of Student Success.
