Is Running Start at Clover Park Technical College right for Me?


Running Start is a statewide community / technical college program that was developed for academically qualified High School Juniors and Seniors who wish to enroll in courses that fulfill high school graduation requirements.  If you have chosen a career direction and can benefit from college instruction, Running Start at Clover Park Technical College may be right for you.

  • Please note that Running Start students are held to the same expectations as all other college students.  Attendance, participation, behaviors and quality of work are to meet college standards.

 

Am I Eligible for Running Start?


If you meet the following criteria you may be eligible for Running Start.
 

  • Be between the age of 16 and 21
  • Be identified as a Junior or Senior
  • Meet minimum COMPASS testing scores
  • Be identified as eligible by your school


OK....I want to do Running Start, What Next?

To get started

  • Speak with your High School Counselor to see if Running Start is an option for you.  If it is, download the Running Start Graduation Plan form for your school counselor to complete
  • Take the COMPASS Assessment
    • Check times and pay for the assessment
    • The assessment will take approximately 2 hours and you will need to take all portions of the assessment
  • Bring your Running Start Graduation Plan, Running Start Application, and COMPASS assessment scores to the Advising and Counseling Center. Meet with Carolyn Van Beek, Running Start Advisor in Building 17
  • Complete the necessary paperwork
  • Meet the requirements of your chosen program
