Worker Retraining

 

What is Worker Retraining?

 

  • A special financial aid grant created by the Washington State Legislature

 

Do I qualify?

 

  • I am being laid off from my job and may have a WARN notice.
  • I am currently receiving Washington State unemployment benefits
  • I exhausted my Washington State unemployment benefits in the past 24-months
  • I am a displaced homemaker who has been dependent on the income of another family member, but I am no longer supported by that income.
  • I owned a business or was self-employed and lost employment when the economy took its downturn.
  • I have been honorably discharged from the U.S. Armed Services in the last 24 months

 

How may I qualify and for what?

 

  • Tuition and textbooks for one quarter
  • Choose any technical or professional training program
  • Eligibility is based on current net monthly household income

  

Where do I apply?

  • Make an appointment.  Call (253) 589-5541 to schedule an appointment
  • If you are receiving Washington State unemployment benefits, bring a stub from your check to the appointment
  • When you arrive for your appointment, come to the Advising Office, Building 17.
