Policy Process
Timelines will be flexible if they occur over a holiday period.
- A policy sponsored by a direct-report level staff member, is posted online for comments and discussion. An email is sent to all staff and faculty.
- After 10 calendar days an open forum is held by sponsor and subject-matter experts for comments or discussion. Minutes will be taken.
- After 14 calendar days online comments are closed and the Direct Reports make one of three decisions:
- Continue online comment period.
- Revise the policy.
- After the policy is revised, it's reposted for a 7-day comment period.
- After 7 calendar days, the Direct Reports discuss the policy. If approved, it is forwarded to the College President for final decision.
- Move forward.
- If the Direct Reports determine that no revision is necessary, the policy is sent to the College President for final decision.
Procedure Process

- Revise the procedure.
- After the procedure is revised, it's reposted for a 7-day comment period.
- After 7 calendar days, the Direct Reports discuss the procedure. If approved, it is signed by the direct-report level staff member.
- Move forward.
- If the Direct Reports determine that no revision is necessary, the procedure is signed by the direct-report level staff member.
General Rubric for Decision to Move Policy or Procedure Forward
All comments will be assigned to one of three categories:
- Clarification
- Negative
- Positive
If the comments received in the negative category exceed 25% of all comments categorized as positive or negative, the policy will be revised automatically.
All other decisions on proceeding with the proposed policy remain at the discretion of the Direct Reports.
