 Learning Styles

 Instructors will participate in a course designed to assist them in identifying; 1) auditory, visual and kinesthetic learning styles and there significance to the student learning process and course design. 2) The concept of "universal design" in instruction. This will be a hands-on course for instructors where each participant will assess their own classroom assignments and how those assignments can be reconfigured to reach the learning styles of all students.  This course will facilitate instructors to create learning environments that implement teaching/learning strategies that engage a variety of learning styles for instructional success.

Managing Your Classroom Environment                               

Tuesdays 4-6pm

 This course will focus on the effective management of the classroom so as to promote an instructional environment that encourages, fosters and nurtures learning.  Learners will examine how to approach classroom management situations that arise and choose from a range of options designed to prevent, cope with, and solve a variety of problems. This course will facilitate instructors to; create projects geared at effectively managing the classroom, assess their own classroom leadership style and address student behavior.  This class will be presented as a hybrid course so it will provide an opportunity to learn techniques to manage an online classroom environment.

Whether you want to use CPTC's Blackboard as a course companion or to teach a fully online course, this will show you how to use the common, "everyday" tools in Blackboard. Blackboard Basics includes an orientation to Blackboard and features most widely used by faculty. Geared toward the novice users of Blackboard, but more experienced faculty are welcome for review and reinforcement skills.

 Participants will learn to use CPTC's Blackboard system to develop an effective learning environment for students. Workshop will cover course creation, adding courses components from syllabus to assignments, how to create effectives discussions for asynchronous participation and collaboration, and how to use the gradebook.
