Due to a mandatory update by Lakewood Light and Power that will cause a power outage, the Lakewood Campus of Clover Park Technical College will be closed on June 25.

Cobra and Self-Pay Benefits

The federal Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) law gives employees and covered dependents the right to continue employer-sponsored group health coverage on a self-paid basis up to 18 months (and in some cases up to 36 months) after the employee would otherwise lose eligibility.

During temporary loss of pay status, the college will no longer contribute toward insurance benefits (including medical, dental, basic life and long-term disability). However, employees have the right to self-pay premiums and keep some coverage in effect under the rules of the Public Employees Benefits Board.
