What is the American Opportunity Tax Credit?

It is available to students enrolled for at least half-time in a degree, diploma or certificate granting program during the first two years of post-secondary education.

It provides for a federal income tax credit up to $2,500 per student for qualified and related expenses (excluding those paid for by grants and financial aid) if you paid for college enrollment from January 1 - December 31 of the tax year.

What is CPTC Doing?

  • 1098-T forms have been mailed to students who may qualify.  The form includes the CPTC web address where you may view your detailed payment information, and also includes a telephone number to call for assistance.
  • Six PCs with web access are available for students to use in the Lobby of Building 17. A printer will allow you to print out your information.
  • You may also access the web using any computer lab on campus.
