I was born here in Tacoma. I have spent my whole life here in Pierce County where I enjoy every moment of it. I can’t get enough of the outdoors and find myself outside enjoying it most often, except in the winter. I went to Clover Park High School where I was involved in student government. I did not finish high school and went straight into working some dead end job. After about 3 years of going nowhere I decided to come back to school. Since I was young I knew I was going to work with computers, thus I chose the Computer Information Technology (CIT) program. After my first quarter I heard about the opportunity to work for Associated Student Government (ASG) and went for it. I was offered the VP of student activities position and about collapsed when I heard to news. Now, after training and the first quarter of work I love this job. I take pride in representing the student body at rallies, events, student council meetings, and board of trustees meetings. I have learned that this college has a great reputation for training exceptional workers and one of the best ASG teams in all Community and Technical Colleges.

I am proud to be a student, and a student leader at Clover Park Technical College.

Currently taking Culinary Arts, I was born and raised in the Philippines, the “Pearl of the Orient Seas”. Migrated to the United States 6 years ago, daughter of a Retired US Army Vietnam War Veteran, and a proud single mother of a beautiful 2 year old child.

I joined ASG to make a difference in my fellow students lives by providing them with experiences and lessons that I’ve learned during my journey that I love to share - Educating people about how to achieve a healthy lifestyle, promoting healthy living and provide support for students of Clover Park Technical College.

My favorite analogy uses the combined symbolism of a historic event, David and Goliath, and the 2007 movie “300” that depicts a historic event.  I believe history is rich in lessons and life experiences that we can learn and grow from great historic events. For me, when I migrated to the U.S., I felt like David in the Story of David and Goliath. All by myself in an unknown place, I had a big “monster” to face and conquer. Years later, “facing insurmountable odds, their valor and sacrifice inspires all” (this is a quote from the synopsis about the movie “300”). To me, this will represent the entire students of Clover Park Technical College – My fellow Spartans who will join together to create and conquer!

Multiculturalism and social issues

I was born in Bakersfield California and moved to University Place WA in 1997 when I was 9 years of age.  I was homeschooled up until 8th grade where I attended Curtis High School.  Half way through 10th grade I started attending Tacoma Community College where I made friends with some people I probably shouldn’t have, my grades began to slip and I made some of the worse decisions of my life. I eventually got my GED as I was working a part-time job at Macy’s.
Since then I was laid-off from my job, have cut ties with all my old friends, and started a new here at Clover Park Technical College. I am currently enrolled in the Architecture program and have managed to so far maintain high grades.  In order to further challenge and better myself, I decided to apply for Associated Student Government where I have some great co-workers and friends.
Looking back now I am glad to have learned from my past and acknowledge the fact that I may not have been able to see it at the time but losing my job might be one of the best things that ever happened to me. It allowed me to move forward with what I have learned and continue towards my goals in becoming an architect.
I enjoy the company of good people, drawing, anime, and hitting the billiard tables.
ASG is by far the best job I have ever had, fun-friendly, and full of members working towards the same goal of making this campus better that what it is.

For as long as I can remember I’ve known what I wanted to do with my life. Science has always been a passion of mine and mechanics in particular has interested me for some time. I am an international student in Clover Park Technical College from the Civil Aviation Flight University of China, majoring in Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT). I have proven myself to be a consistent straight A student and was awarded a succession of academic, leadership and music related scholarships during my educational years in China. Right now I already finished four quarters here and proved myself again to be the best student with GPA of 4 four times. And I have received “Hamilton Family Scholarship” for Spring Quarter 2011, “Merit Scholarship” for Summer Quarter 2011, “US West Scholarship for Fall Quarter 2011 and Merit Scholarship” for Winter Quarter 2012. I understand the importance of education and consider myself to be a studious, selfless, and aspiring young man. I consider one of my strengths to be capable of clear and logical analysis of complex subjects with a keen mind. During the new term, I have already enacted my approach and am working towards successfully achieving my educational goals.

To begin with, I want to finish my existing studies and obtain the Aviation Maintenance Technician-Associate Degree, followed by the goal of achieving a Master degree within the following two years. With these degrees I believe I will have more opportunities to achieve success in the future.

Secondly, after two years of the required academic study, I hope to acquire the Aerospace Composite Maintenance Certificate and Airframe & Power Plant Maintenance Certificate. These certificates will help me gain a comprehensive understanding of the civil aviation industry. Upon the completion of my formal education and my return to China, I would have the necessary skills to obtain the ideal position and contribute to future advancements in the aviation field.

And finally, aircraft maintenance is a serious work. Being a good maintenance engineer, I need to have excellent professional knowledge and proficient skills. I will work hard to pursuit the truth tirelessly. I do believe that where there is a will, there is a way and those who care the most, will invest the greatest. I wish to be that professional who makes a positive difference for the entire aircraft industry, and those who rely on our proficiency. Our destiny offers not the cup of despair, but the chalice of opportunity. So let us seize it, not in fear, but in gladness.
