The McGavick Student & Conference Center is located on the central campus of Clover Park Technical College in the heart of Lakewood. The address is 4500 Steilacoom Blvd. SW, Building 23, Lakewood, WA 98499. Should you wish to serve alcoholic beverages, an appropriate banquet/liquor serving permit must be purchased from the Washington State Liquor Control Board and posted on site. If alcoholic beverages are to be served at any given event, the Center requires that at least one off-duty police officer from the Lakewood Police Department or a certified Security Service provider be on site during the event. A licensed bartender is required to serve all alcoholic beverages.
Only certified service animals or service animals in training will be allowed into the McGavick Student & Conference Center.
Baby changing stations are located in the restrooms at the McGavick Student & Conference Center
Balloons of any kind are not allowed inside the McGavick Student & Conference Center unless an exception is made with prior written approval from the contractor.
Banners or signs may be hung at designated areas of the McGavick Student & Conference Center only with prior approval from the Maintenance Department. Signs must be hung using string, zip ties or wire in our designated locations only. Duct tape, double backed tape, masking tape, or scotch tape may not be used inside the McGavick Student & Conference Center. The McGavick Student & Conference Center reserves the right to remove any banners or signs at their discretion.
No outside beverages are permitted in the McGavick Student & Conference Center that includes cans and/or bottles. Exceptions may be granted for baby formula, baby bottles, baby food, medication or other special health related needs.
Catering may be serviced by the company of the client’s choice. Accommodations for Kitchen use require a separate contract.
The McGavick Student & Conference Center and its employees are committed to providing our guests with an enjoyable, safe atmosphere. Our staff will proactively intervene to support a family oriented environment where all guests can enjoy the event free from the following behaviors:

The McGavick Student & Conference Center’s food service partner, Consolidated Food Management (CFM) manages fixed and portable concession stands in-house during regular school session. These stands feature traditional favorites such as hot breakfast and lunch entrees. In addition to these favorites, there are specialty items such as hamburgers, hot dogs, nachos and pizza. CFM in the Student Center accepts Debit and Credit Cards.
The Sharon McGavick Student & Conference Center concession stand does not accept credit or debit cards.
If you are planning on having dancing at your event, you will be required to rent a dance floor.

The Drop-off/pick-up zone is in the front of the McGavick Student & Conference Center off Steilacoom Blvd. SW and Hageness Drive. Please note that this area is closed to through-traffic. Parking is located at the rear of the building.
In the event of a serious emergency, all event staff, law enforcement and fire personnel are available to assist guests. Information may also be provided over the public address system.
If medical assistance is needed, please call 911.
Outside food and beverages are not permitted. Exceptions may be granted for baby formula, baby bottles, baby food, medication, or other special health related needs. To view details about our onsite catering services, please read under Catering.
For large public events at the McGavick Student & Conference Center, medics should be arranged to be on site.
Parking can be challenging during weekday school hours. Evenings and weekends are more flexible.
If you have an emergency requiring police attention, please contact the nearest security personnel. If the particular event you are attending does not require on-site police staffing, the Lakewood Police Department can be available.
In the interest of guest safety and enjoyment, the McGavick Student & Conference Center reserves the right to prevent certain items from being brought into the facility. The following includes, but is not limited to, items that are not allowed into the Center:
PROHIBITED ITEMS
1. Alcoholic beverages without prior consent
2. Food items
3. Glass bottles or cans
4. Ice chests or hard-sided coolers
5. Fireworks
6. Bullhorns, air horns or other noisemakers
7. Confetti
8. Animals (except certified service animals)
9. Bicycles
10. Skateboards or roller blades
11. Balloons of any kind – without prior written consent
12. Weapons of any kind
13. Stickers
14. Chains
15. Studded belts, bracelets, etc.
PERMITTED ITEMS:
1. Baby formula, baby bottles and baby food
2. Medication or other special needs
3. Cloth bags, soft packs, backpacks and baby bags (subject to search, must fit under seat)
4. Binoculars
5. Seat cushions
Any person or business wishing to distribute any promotional material or sell any product during a McGavick Student & Conference Center event (both within the space contracted and in any public spaces maintained by the Center) must receive permission to do so from the Event Planner/Promoter. If appropriate permission has not been received, the individual(s) will be escorted out of the Center.
General Security is provided by Clover Park Technical College. If you are planning a large event and anticipating crowds, you will be required to hire an off-site security company or off-duty police officers from the Lakewood Police Department.
Skateboarding and/or rollerblading on campus property is strictly prohibited.
The McGavick Student & Conference Center is a smoke-free facility and smoking is strictly prohibited. Smoking and tobacco use is restricted to the designated smoking locations.
Any persons without written consent from the McGavick Student & Conference Center or the event promoter are prohibited from soliciting contributions or distributing literature on the Conference Center’s property (inside or outside).
Any person or business wishing to distribute any promotional material or sell any product during a McGavick Student & Conference Center event (both within the space contracted and in any public spaces maintained by the College) must receive permission to do so from the promoter of the show. Any persons not authorized to distribute or sell ANY product will be escorted off the property immediately.
For the safety of all guests, weapons of any kind are not permitted in the McGavick Student & Conference Center without prior written consent of the contractor.
