Over the last 18 months, there has been much work and preparation done at SBCTC to prepare for the hardware migration they are calling Lift and Shift. This site will outline what Lift and Shift is, what it means for CPTC, what we need to do to prepare for it, and when it is scheduled to occur.
The Lift and Shift project arose from hardware restrictions of the existing HP3000. The HP3000 was originally released in 1973, and as of December 31st 2010, HP (the company) is no longer supporting it. New replacement hardware is not available, and as a result, it was determined that maintaining antiquated hardware was not an acceptable business practice. HP agreed to provide us with state of the art HP7000 servers to replace our HP3000 servers as part of the settlement for Rehost.
