Profile: Dorothy Wilhelm
Dorothy Wilhelm calls herself a porcupine trainer. That’s her term for the sticky situations and prickly people we all have to face on a daily basis. She believes we all handle porcupines every day, whether we want to or not. For more than three decades Dorothy has been an acknowledged spokesperson for people enjoying their second fifty years. That’s because she has more life experience than practically anyone – except maybe Betty White. She has now turned her attention to providing keynotes and presentations which use inspiration, creativity, laughter and best of all anticipation as tools for solving the challenges of daily living. She leads her readers and audiences in welcoming life change with enthusiasm.
Dorothy is a professional humorist, speaker, radio and TV personality who was once listed in the Yearbook of Experts, Authorities and Spokespersons as an expert on Sex after 50. She doesn’t talk about that anymore. A familiar Northwest media personality, her newspaper column has appeared regularly in the Tacoma News Tribune for 21 years. She is represented nationally by Senior Readers Syndicate. She was the creator of the popular My Home Town on Comcast TV. Dorothy is acknowledged by her editors, readers, fellow broadcasters and audiences nationwide as an expert on finding joy in the most unlikely circumstances.
