Policies and Facility Information
Alcohol
Should you wish to serve/sell alcoholic beverages, an appropriate banquet permit or special occasion license must either be purchased from the Washington State Liquor Control Board or provided by a licensed caterer/bartender and posted on site. If alcoholic beverages are to be served at any event, the McGavick Conference Center requires that at least one off-duty police officer or a certified security service provider be on site during the event. Your security officer’s name and contact information must be on file with the office of Event Services prior to your event.
Animals
Only certified service animals or service animals in training will be allowed into the McGavick Conference Center. Any other requests to have animals in the facility must be approved by the Event Services Office. Requests must be submitted in writing a minimum of 30 days prior to the date of the event.
Baby Changing Areas
Baby changing stations are located in the restrooms at the McGavick Conference Center
Banners and Signs
Banners or signs may be hung at designated areas of the McGavick Conference Center only with approval from Event Services. Painters tape is the only acceptable tape to be used in this facility, other tapes such as, duct tape, double backed tape, masking tape, packing or scotch tape may not be used in the McGavick Conference Center. Event Services reserves the right to remove any banners or signs at their discretion.
Catering Services
Catering may be serviced by the company of the client’s choice. Accommodations for kitchen use require a separate contract and fee.
Code of Conduct
The McGavick Conference Center and its employees are committed to providing our guests with an enjoyable and safe atmosphere. Our staff may intervene to support an environment where all guests can enjoy the event.

Dance Events
If you plan to have dancing at your event, you will be required to rent a dance floor. Event Services has a dance floor available for you to rent at an additional fee.
Drop-Off/Pick-Up Zones
The Drop-off/pick-up zone is located in front of the McGavick Conference Center off Steilacoom Blvd. SW and Hageness Drive. Please note that this area is closed to through-traffic. Parking is located on the south side of the building.
In the event of a serious emergency, all event staff, law enforcement and fire personnel are available to assist guests. Information may also be provided over the public address system. If medical assistance is needed, please call 911.
Food and Beverage Policy
It is the responsibility of the client to assure that any food and beverage served or presented in the McGavick Conference Center be prepared and handled in accordance with all rules, regulations, guidelines and procedures of the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department.
Parking
Free event parking is provided with this contract. Event parking can be found on the north and south sides of the McGavick Conference Center.
Police
If you have an emergency requiring police attention, please contact the nearest college personnel (253) 589-5682 or call 911.
Prohibited Items
In the interest of guest safety and enjoyment, the McGavick Conference Center reserves the right to prevent certain items from being brought into the facility. Those items include, but are not limited to:
PROHIBITED ITEMS
1. Alcoholic beverages without prior consent
2. Fireworks
3. Confetti
4. Animals (except certified service animals)
5. Skateboards or roller blades
6. Weapons of any kind
Promotions/Vending
Any person or business wishing to distribute promotional material or sell products during an event at the McGavick Conference Center may do so at the discretion of the client.
Large Events and Emergency Services
General security is provided by Clover Park Technical College as a part of this contract. If you are planning a large event and anticipate crowds, you will be required to hire an off-site security company or off-duty police officers from a Police Department. Additional security must be hired if alcohol is being served. See the Alcohol policy for further information.
Skateboarding/Roller-blading
Skateboarding and/or rollerblading on campus property is strictly prohibited.
Smoking Policy
The McGavick Conference Center is a smoke-free facility and smoking is strictly prohibited. Smoking and tobacco use is restricted to the designated smoking locations.
Solicitation/Literature
Any person without consent from Event Services or the client is prohibited from soliciting contributions or distributing literature on the Conference Center’s property (inside or outside).
Weapons
For the safety of all guests, weapons of any kind are not permitted in the McGavick Conference Center without prior written consent of CPTC.
Wheelchairs
The McGavick Conference Center is wheelchair accessible.
