INFECTION CONTROL FOR MEDICAL ESTHETICIANS

Provides students with the skills necessary to implement proper infection control and bio-hazardous waste disposal. Sanitation, disinfection, and autoclaving instruments and equipment are covered. Review of bacteriology and spread of disease, OSHA and blood-borne pathogens will be covered, in addition to HIV/AIDS/HEPATITIS for patient and esthetician safety and protection.
Prerequisite:
ES 205 and successful completion of state- approved entry-level esthetic program and proof of esthetic license from Washington State.
Learning Outcomes:- Demonstrate proficiency in sanitation, disinfection, autoclave and infection control in a medical esthetic environment.
- Dispose of hazardous materials according to local, state and federal guidelines.
- Receive certification for HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis training.
