BUSINESS LAW

Introduces students to Business law as it applies to the business world through the Uniform Commercial Code. Examines legal institutions and processes, legal reasoning, and the interaction of law and business. Laws pertaining to business contracts, sales, bailments, commercial paper, employment, agency, business organization, insurance and property are reviewed.
Prerequisite:
ACTG 115 or instructor approval.
Learning Outcomes:- Following discussion and practice define terms and identify concepts related to courts, court procedures, business torts and crimes according to the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) with a minimum of 75% accuracy.
- Following discussion and practice define terms and identify legal concepts related to written and oral business contracts, offers, agreements and consideration according to the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) with a minimum of 75% accuracy.
- Following discussion and practice define terms and identify legal concepts related to sales contracts, leases, warranties, product liability and consumer protection according to the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) with a minimum of 75% accuracy.
- Discussion and practice define terms and identify legal concepts related to agency, employment and labor legislation according to the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) with a minimum of 75% accuracy.
- Following discussion and practice define terms and identify legal concepts related to businesses organized and sole proprietors, partnerships and corporations according to the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) with a minimum of 75% accuracy.
- Following discussion and practice define terms and identify legal concepts related to real property, and landlord/tenancy law, according to the UniformCommercial Code (UCC) with a minimum of 75% accuracy.
