Quality Teacher's at the Strawberry Patch

Teresa Cook (Ms. Teresa) has been the teacher at Strawberry Patch Preschool since 1994. Her personal goals for the children are to provide a safe environment that creates learning opportunities, offers appropriate activities, and provides time for children to be with each other and with loving adults. Children learn best when they actively participate, work at their own pace and style, talk to each other, use real objects, build on their own experience, follow their natural curiosity, experiment to find solutions, and PLAY!!!

Ms. Teresa’s goal is not to have children reading or writing when they move on to formal education, but to provide them with a positive experience of learning and of school. The activities will be student directed, not teacher directed. The role of the adults in the classroom is to ‘play’ with the children – dialogue, sharing, problem solving, encourage new thoughts and activities (co-learning). She would like children to look forward to coming each day to learn new things and be a contributing member of the group.

Ms. Teresa respects children and their families. Each person is valuable and she feels it is important to have families contribute knowledge of their heritage and skills with the children. She hopes to enable the children to grow physically, emotionally, socially as well as intellectually. Most of all, preschool children are really fun, and Ms. Teresa enjoys working with them!!!
