Network Security, Firewalls and Detection Systems

Introduces Intrusion detection, the response systems to detect and respond to unauthorized activity on a network. Initial configuration, setup and troubleshooting for multi-protocol environments using Cisco routers and Switches will be covered. Introduces installation and configuration of network security products and security features.

This 660 clock-hour program is approximately two quarters in length, depending on the time students need to satisfactorily complete all graduation requirements.

CISS 225 CO-OP WORK EXPERIENCE II
This course provides practical field experience in a security-related specialty area. Includes a scheduled seminar.

CISSC 235 WEB SECURITY
Analyzes the risks involved and determine what level of security is needed to operate a web site. Topics include how to protect a web setup from intrusion, sabotage, eavesdropping and tampering; and view the web site with existing tools and techniques of hackers. Developing a secure web site plan to select, secure, configure and set up firewalls; secure an extended and distributed enterprise network or Virtual Private Network.

CISSN 245 ADVANCED ROUTING & SWITCHING
Operation and application of Ethernet switches in the LAN environment to include VLAN's and the Spanning Tree Protocol.

CISSN 248 ADVANCED NETWORK TECHNOLOGIES
Operation and implementation of the IPX protocol stack in Cisco routers.

CISSN 236 MANAGING NETWORK SECURITY
Introduces knowledge and skills needed to install, configure, operate, manage, and verify network security products and security features. The course focuses on implementing IP-Network security.

CISSN 238 IMPLEMENTING & MANAGING SECURE FIREWALLS
Knowledge and skill needed to describe, configure, verify, recover and manage firewall products firewall feature set.

CISSN 240 SECURE INTRUSION DETECTION SYSTEMS
Introduces intrusion detection and response system, to detect and respond to unauthorized activity on a network. It teaches the knowledge and skills needed to install, configure, operate, and manage current industry standard system.

CISSN 242 SECURE VIRTUAL PRIVATE NETWORK
Knowledge and skills needed to describe, configure, verify and manage features in current industry standard VPN product family, Firewalls and Routers.
